When to Plant Radish Microgreens Seeds
Radish seeds can be grown for microgreens indoors at any time of year! With a quick turn around, you can expect to add crisp, peppery crunch to salads, sandwiches, avocado toast, and grain bowls in just 6 to 10 days.
Where to Plant Radish Microgreens Seeds
Set your shallow tray in bright light to reduce stretch. This location can be on a kitchen countertop, a windowsill, or under grow lights if natural sunlight is low or unavailable.
How to Plant Radish Microgreens Seeds
Fill your tray, takeout container, pie tin or any shallow and wide container with moistened seed starting mix. This medium should be hydrated but not dripping, as too much water may encourage mold or cause the seeds to rot.
Sprinkle seeds evenly across the entire surface. Radish microgreens like a dense sowing: aim for seeds spaced just shy of touching. No need to bury the seeds.
Next, cover the seeds for two to three days during germination (radish seeds germinate in the dark) with some sort of flat surface and weight applied. Cover with a lid, another tray, or blackout dome. The darkness helps the seeds to germinate and the applied weight helps the seedlings to emerge at the same time. Otherwise, the seeds may develop at slightly different rates, making harvesting more difficult. The weight also offers resistance to the seedlings, causing better stem development. It is best if you can offer bottom watering during this time; avoid oversaturation.
How to Care for Radish Microgreens
Once most seeds have sprouted, remove both the cover and weight and place under bright indirect sunlight or a grow light. Bottom-water to keep stems clean and prevent mold. Harvest in 6 to 10 days before the true leaves expand. Enjoy!
