Top Five Favorite Herbs to Plant

The numbers are in:
Customers’ Top Five Favorite Herbs

I asked our Order Department for the results from all of 2017, and here are the winners. Out of all the herbs we carry, these are the big winners. And why not? They’re some of the all-time tastiest and easy to grow. An herb garden only takes a few feet of space, and it’s always there when you’re ready to cook up a great meal. For a summer full of flavor, take your pick of the five faves:

1. CULINARY HERB SEED COLLECTION

This great buy is always No. 1 among the herbs. No big surprise, since you get all these herbs in separate packets for just 14.95—only 1.50 each. Included are Sweet Basil, Italian Parsley, Curled Parsley, Cilantro, Arugula, Dill, Chives, Garlic Chives, Chervil and Florence Fennel. A whole herb garden ready to plant!

2. LEMON MINT SEEDS

Just the thing for summer coolers, great iced tea, and garnish for almost anything you cook. Everybody loves it. And you’ll love how easy it grows! Cut some, and here comes more. (A beautiful plant too….and ohhh, the lemon scent!) And so easy to grow.

3. CILANTRO/CORIANDER SEEDS

This favorite is a two for one. Use the seeds themselves as a spice, and that’s Coriander. Plant the seeds, and cut the delicious leaves, and that’s called Cilantro, the darling of gourmet cooks. Great for sprinkling on chicken, fish, and in salads.

4. BASIL SEEDS

This is the one herb you can never be without. That great scent and delicious taste improves almost everything. Chop a few leaves for your own Caprese Salads with balsamic vinegar and a little mozzarella like the fancy Italian restaurants do.

5. CHIVE SEEDS

Yum! Those little deep green onions chopped up make any salad or garnish beautiful and delicious. They’re just as easy to grow.

These are all among my favorites, too. Great taste for your table with almost no work! Also, great companions to other vegetables in your garden.
